SC Vistula Season Finale Tournament

SC Vistula Garfield will be hosting it's first soccer tournament, the SC Vistula Season Finale Tournament on Father’s Day weekend, . This tournament will have over 90 teams participating in it. The teams include players between the ages of 8 to 18. Needing an additional team for the U18/19 bracket, the club president, Darek Wesolowski, asked two of the young Vistula coaches and senior team players, Nicholas Kozdron and Christopher Kondratowicz to form a team. Nick and Chris automatically thought to bring back the Vistula Dragons team. This team was started back in 2006 by Coach Jozef Magiera who was assisted by Goalie Jacek Plotnicki. The two coaches lead the Dragons to a championship season. As a result, team membership increased so much that a decision was made to split the team into the Vistula Wolves and the Vistula Dragons. The team persevered with many of its original members until they reached the U16 level. In the time leading up to that point, the boys were coached and managed by senior players Jacek Kozdron, Piotr Sala, and Konrad Madej, in addition to Andrew Zurawski, Marian Bator, and Greg Baranowski. With all of this support and hard work, we are proud many of these players are playing soccer in college such as Dominican College, NJIT, Rowan, Felician,Stony Brookand Rutgers University Newark.

Please come and watch all the SC Vistula teams play on June 15th and 16th and help us welcome the Dragons back together at this tournament. Our boys’ and girls’ teams have the opportunity to play in front of a home audience of families and friends. We will have games non-stop on Saturday and Sunday on 5 fields in Garfield and 1 field in Wallington. In attendance will be visiting international academies coaches from Inter Milan and Legia Warsaw. There will also be a recreation soccer friendly tournament on Sunday from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm in 20th Century Park. So if you know any child that wants to play, please invite them.
